Aircraft Fatigue Management Course Overview

Originally designed for cabin crew, it’s clear that the knowledge and techniques presented in this aircraft fatigue management course are invaluable for everyone in aviation. From pilots, mechanics, to all others working long or irregular shifts, this course equips participants with the skills needed to manage fatigue. The aviation fatigue management training explains how fatigue, sleep loss, and circadian disturbance can significantly reduce performance, thus influencing safety across various roles. The course meets the requirements of AMC1 ORO.FTL.250, covering essential topics such as:

  • The fundamentals of fatigue, including sleep basics and the effects of disrupting circadian rhythms
  • Causes of aviation fatigue, including medical conditions contributing to fatigue
  • Fatigue management countermeasures to mitigate risks
  • The impact of fatigue on operational performance
  • The influence of lifestyle, including nutrition, exercise, and family life, on fatigue levels
  • Sleep disorders and their potential treatments
  • The effects of heavy short-range schedules
  • The impact of operating through multiple time zones

About the Course:

This is a self-paced, online course produced by InfoWERK of Innsbruck, Austria. It is developed in line with EASA regulations and is based on ICAO standards, making it equally relevant for FAA and other major national aviation authorities.

The course is divided into brief, 1-2 minute segments that include animations, videos, and narrated content, providing an engaging way to cover critical fatigue risk management topics. Stage exams serve to refresh and confirm the key concepts. Navigation between topics is simple with a menu bar, and the entire course can be completed in approximately 3 hours. Upon passing the final exam, participants receive a printable certificate of completion.

Enrollment in the course lasts for a full year from the date of purchase, allowing unlimited access for participants to revisit the course and refresh their knowledge.

IA Renewal Credit:

This course (FAA ALC-1149) qualifies for 3 hours of IA Renewal Credit, covering 3 of the 8 hours required for annual continued training. Upon completion, ATB will authorize this credit through FAA, and a printable IA certificate will be available via your FAAST account at www.FAAsafety.gov.

FAAST AMT Award Points:

Additionally, this course qualifies for 3 FAA FAAST AMT Award Points, which will be awarded upon successful completion. To receive this award, participants must be FAAST members. Registration for FAAST is free and can be completed at www.faasafety.gov/login/reg/register.aspx.

For Training Managers:
